Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript / Nest.js / AWS)

Vecten is an AI-native technology partner specializing in building proprietary data infrastructure and AI solutions for private capital and healthcare sectors. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and lead the development of a critical multi-tenant policy gateway for a US insurance carrier.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a greenfield Nest.js service on AWS to integrate multiple external policy systems with a modern claims platform.
• Implement robust webhook contracts, including HMAC authentication, IP allowlisting, and secure data handling.
• Develop a tenant router, registry, and source adapter framework featuring retries, circuit breaking, and strict data isolation.
• Manage batch processing pipelines, including SFTP ingestion, file validation, and idempotent loads into PostgreSQL.
• Define canonical policy models and collaborate with domain experts to map complex coverage codes and business rules.
• Ensure system reliability through comprehensive observability, structured logging, and automated negative testing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in TypeScript and Nest.js.
• Proven track record in building integration services, API gateways, and handling third-party API adapters.
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, relational data modeling, and multi-tenant system architecture.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS/EKS, SQS, S3, and IAM, with the ability to propose Terraform configurations.
• Self-directed mindset with the ability to scope ambiguous requirements and deliver high-quality code independently.
• Fluent English and excellent communication skills for working directly with stakeholders.
