Senior Backend Engineer (Python, AI, EdTech)

Novakid is a leading online English-learning platform for children, currently serving over 80,000 students across 15 countries. We are scaling our operations and seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help us build the future of AI-driven education through robust, scalable, and innovative technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of our backend architecture, focusing on microservices, event-driven systems, and AWS serverless infrastructure.
• Drive technical decision-making while ensuring high standards for code quality, security, and system scalability.
• Mentor and support backend developers, providing code reviews and fostering professional growth within the team.
• Design and implement robust APIs and data flows that power our AI-driven language learning features.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Data Science teams to integrate cutting-edge AI models into our educational platform.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience with a strong focus on Python 3.8+.
• Proven track record in system design, architecture, and scaling distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Celery.
• Hands-on experience with AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, observability, and security.
• Fluent English communication skills to work effectively in our international environment.
