Senior Backend Engineer

Harvey Nash Technology is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on building and maintaining high-traffic backend services. You will play a crucial role in developing AI-powered assistants and enhancing the functionality of a mobile application to improve user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services for a high-traffic mobile application, focusing on chat communication and user personalization.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered assistants to support the purchasing journey and pre-purchase experience.
• Improve existing components with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Take end-to-end ownership of services, including development, maintenance, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Participate in architectural and technical decision-making within a small, product-oriented team.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience in the JVM ecosystem, specifically with Kotlin or Java.
• Proven track record of building production-grade systems and excellent analytical skills.
• Practical experience using AI in software development or building AI-enabled features.
• Curiosity about emerging AI technologies and a willingness to experiment with new tools.
• Experience working in fast-paced product environments and strong English communication skills.
