Senior Backend Engineer, Java

Maker's Den is a remote-first software studio run by developers, for developers, specializing in building modern web and mobile applications for global clients. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep Java expertise to help us grow our backend capabilities and deliver high-quality, maintainable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend services using modern Java 17+ with the opportunity to influence system architecture.
• Make critical technical decisions regarding API design, data modeling, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate directly with clients and internal team members throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to ensure codebase elegance and reliability.
• Contribute strategic ideas and think beyond individual tasks to improve overall project outcomes.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience with backend Java and the modern JVM ecosystem, including Spring Boot.
• Deep understanding of concurrency, system performance under load, and high-quality API design.
• Pragmatic approach to software development, knowing when to apply design patterns effectively.
• Proven ability to work independently and asynchronously in a fully remote environment.
• Proficiency in using AI and LLM tools to enhance productivity and delivery speed.
