Senior Backend Engineer, Booking Platform - 100% Remote - EMEA

Hostaway is a leading, AI-powered vacation rental management platform trusted by over 20,000 property managers worldwide. We are looking for an impact-focused Senior Backend Engineer to join our Bookineers team, which manages our guest-facing services, including the guest portal and direct sales site builder.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services in PHP and Go that power high-traffic guest-facing products.
• Drive the extraction of services from our monolith, defining clean boundaries and migration paths.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to ship features that improve direct booking conversion.
• Develop APIs designed for agentic interfaces to enable new ways for guests and partners to interact with our platform.
• Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate delivery and improve overall code quality.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong foundation in software engineering.
• Strong experience with PHP in production and proficiency or high interest in Go.
• Proven experience designing and operating high-traffic, customer-facing systems.
• Experience decomposing monoliths and a pragmatic approach to service extraction.
• Solid experience designing APIs with a focus on clarity, versioning, and consumability.
• Comfortable using AI coding tools as part of your daily development workflow.
