Senior Backend Developer (Python)

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our team in building the next generation of AWS-based backend services. You will be responsible for developing systems that assemble and deliver critical aeronautical navigation data to airlines and avionics manufacturers, ensuring high performance and reliability under strict publication deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Design scalable and resilient backend architecture capable of supporting high processing volumes and new product integrations.
• Apply cloud security best practices across infrastructure, automation, and deployment processes.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt and risks within backend services and cloud environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional component teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Document technical decisions and operational procedures to maintain high standards of system maintainability.

Requirements

• Extensive production experience developing with Python and PostgreSQL.
• Proven expertise in developing and operating within AWS environments using cloud-native patterns.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, including access control, secrets management, and secure service configuration.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues across application code, containers, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with static analysis tools and maintaining code quality gates in growing systems.
