Rust and C++ Developer

Somco Software is a recognized leader in Qt consulting, specializing in complex projects across the medical, automotive, and IoT industries. We are currently seeking an experienced Rust Developer to join our R&D team in a fully remote capacity, focusing on the integration of Rust with the Qt/QML framework.

Key responsibilities

• Developing production-quality Rust code and C++ components for high-performance applications.
• Working on Rust ↔ C++ interoperability and designing safe FFI abstractions.
• Designing and developing public Rust APIs while contributing to the Qt 6 ecosystem.
• Maintaining cross-platform builds for Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.
• Collaborating with an international engineering team and participating in code reviews.

Requirements

• Senior-level commercial experience with Rust and a deep understanding of the language.
• Practical experience with unsafe Rust, memory-safety concepts, and Rust ↔ C++ FFI.
• Proven ability to design and maintain public library APIs and safe wrappers around C++ code.
• Working knowledge of Qt 6, QML, and C++17 standards.
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
