Research Area (R&D) Lead – Classical Communication & Compute

DCG is seeking a visionary Research Area Lead to spearhead innovation in Classical Communication and Compute. This role is dedicated to defining a forward-looking research agenda that shapes the future of network infrastructure and emerging technology paradigms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive a forward-looking research agenda while exploring novel architectures.
• Develop prototypes, experiments, and technology demonstrators to validate new concepts.
• Lead technology foresight and strategic assessments to guide long-term development.
• Collaborate internationally with academia, startups, and industry leaders to foster innovation.
• Represent the organization in global research ecosystems and contribute to intellectual property generation.

Requirements

• Expertise in multiple technical areas such as wireless, photonics, AI/HPC, or distributed systems.
• Proven experience in applied research, prototyping, or advanced technology development.
• Strong systems-thinking and architectural mindset with the ability to bridge research, engineering, and business.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to influence strategic decisions.
• A PhD in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is highly valued.
