Python Backend Developer (File Processing) - Relocation to Cyprus

payabl. is seeking a skilled Mid-Level Backend Developer to join our File Processing team. You will play a crucial role in our migration journey, transitioning legacy batch jobs into a modern, scalable Python ecosystem within a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the re-architecture of legacy Perl batch jobs into modern, maintainable Python services.
• Implement workflow orchestration using tools like Prefect or Airflow to ensure system stability and safe job re-runs.
• Instrument services with logging and alerting tools such as Grafana and CloudWatch to maintain high operational visibility.
• Develop and manage data ingestion pipelines, moving raw data to S3 and transforming it into relational database records.
• Participate in agile sprints and maintain clear, effective communication with stakeholders and team members.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.
• Solid understanding of AWS services, particularly S3 and Lambda.
• Proven experience working with relational databases, specifically MySQL.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on writing clean, human-readable code and proactive troubleshooting.
