Product Design Lead

Primer is looking for a Product Design Lead to guide a talented design team focused on the core merchant product experience. In this role, you will define the experience strategy, maintain a high quality bar, and collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the future of our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end experience strategy and design quality for your specific domain.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of product designers.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leads as an equal voice in strategic decision-making.
• Extend and maintain the design system to ensure consistency across the product.
• Conduct user research and build design practices that unblock engineering teams.

Requirements

• A strong portfolio showcasing shipped product design on complex, systems-heavy products.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring design teams.
• Deep expertise in interaction design, visual design, and information architecture.
• A history of owning a product domain from conception to delivery.
• Excellent judgment regarding when to dive deep into details and when to prioritize speed.
