Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Platform Infrastructure team. You will lead the technical vision and architecture for application networking, including Ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management for the Elastic Cloud platform.

Key responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major application networking initiatives, owning designs from proposal through delivery.
• Lead the development of Ingress, private connectivity, and security controls at scale.
• Drive multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects and guide them to successful completion.
• Improve operational quality by leading complex incident investigations and participating in on-call rotations.
• Mentor engineers and serve as a subject matter expert to influence technical standards across the organization.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and operating complex distributed systems at a Staff or Principal level.
• Deep expertise in application networking, cloud-native architecture, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to own projects from technical design to execution while influencing teams without formal authority.
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms with a strong focus on observability and reliability.
• Ability to work autonomously in a distributed environment using clear, asynchronous communication.
