Principal Software Engineer – Avid Content Core

Avid creates technology and collaborative tools that empower creators to entertain, inform, and educate the world. We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our distributed, agile team in developing cloud-native services for Avid Content Core and MediaCentral.

Key responsibilities

• Develop high-performance, scalable cloud-native backend applications.
• Ensure the highest quality deliverables for core platform infrastructure services.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams across multiple time zones to translate requirements into reliable solutions.
• Actively participate in architecture and design discussions while providing mentorship through code reviews.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from initial design to maintenance.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience in backend software development, including senior or lead roles.
• Proficiency in Java and Go, with a strong understanding of object-oriented design.
• Extensive experience with Spring, Hibernate, and designing RESTful APIs.
• Solid background in microservices architecture, relational and NoSQL databases, and Docker.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Excellent English communication skills and a strong sense of technical ownership.
