Principal Engineer (remote within EMEA)

FYUL is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Merchant Experience team and step into a pivotal Architect role. You will define the platform’s future architecture, set the technical direction for the pillar, and influence our broader engineering strategy while solving complex, large-scale problems.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of technical solutions and architectural decisions within the Merchant Experience pillar.
• Contribute to engineering-wide strategy and standards through the Architecture Council.
• Guide development teams by providing POCs, design documentation, and solving complex design issues.
• Mentor team members on Domain-Driven Design and architectural best practices to ensure high-quality development.
• Collaborate with fellow architects to create cohesive platform guardrails and drive their adoption across teams.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, including roles as a Staff/Principal Engineer or Software Architect.
• Expert-level understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles and microservices architecture.
• Solid foundation in software fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
