People Can Fly is a leading independent AAA game development studio with over 20 years of experience in the industry. We are looking for a Principal Character Artist to join our international team and help push the boundaries of what is possible in game development while creating unforgettable experiences for players worldwide.
Key responsibilities
- Produce high-quality character, creature, and prop assets that align with the project's artistic vision and technical standards.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Lead to define style benchmarks and maintain quality across the development pipeline.
- Work closely with Animation and Technical departments to ensure characters meet all quality expectations, including surface shader tuning.
- Participate in reviews, implement feedback professionally, and contribute to R&D initiatives to improve workflows.
- Support knowledge sharing, recruitment efforts, and the onboarding process for new team members.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced character modeling, texturing, and organic/hard-surface skills.
- Expert knowledge of industry-standard software such as Maya, Max, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
- Deep understanding of PBR texture workflows, art fundamentals, and human/creature anatomy.
- Proven experience working with Unreal Engine and the ability to adapt to specific art styles with minimal guidance.
- Professional experience in the game industry and residency in Europe.
