Principal AI/RAG Engineer

Intellias is seeking a Principal AI/RAG Engineer to join a strategic project for a leading global investment management firm. You will play a pivotal role in building the foundations for safe, scalable, and enterprise-ready AI adoption, focusing on transforming complex data estates into AI-accessible systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop production-grade AI and RAG solutions within a highly regulated financial environment.
• Build and maintain evaluation frameworks, automated test suites, and quality gates for AI systems.
• Enhance retrieval pipelines using hybrid search, reranking, and metadata-driven filtering.
• Develop document intelligence solutions, including structure-aware parsing and information extraction.
• Ensure provenance, traceability, and governance across all generated answers and extracted information.

Requirements

• 6+ years of commercial Python development experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building production LLM and RAG systems.
• Strong expertise in hybrid retrieval techniques, including semantic search and cross-encoder reranking.
• Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge, including relational data modeling and JSONB.
• Practical experience working with AI agents, agentic workflows, and evaluation frameworks like RAGAS or DeepEval.
