About Defguard
Defguard is the ultimate open-source security platform, combining enterprise-grade WireGuard® VPN automation, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and advanced MFA hardware security. We are growing fast and looking for a technical chameleon who can bridge the gap between complex security tech and business value.
The Role
As a Pre-Sales Engineer / Client Architect, you will be the technical face of Defguard during the client and partners onboarding and sales cycle. You will design secure architectures (based on our segmented approach), demonstrate our platform’s capabilities, and help enterprise clients and partners solve their networking and access management challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Architect Solutions: Design tailored security and network architectures integration plans (VPN, IAM, 2FA) for enterprise clients.
Show, Don't Just Tell: Lead technical deep-dives, product demonstrations, and Proof of Concept (PoC) phases.
Onboarding & Support: Guide new and existing customers through the installation and configuration of the Defguard platform.
Be the Trusted Advisor: Answer technical RFPs/RFIs and address security compliance questions from client CTOs and SecOps teams.
Bridge the Gap: Translate client feedback into actionable feature requests for our core engineering team.
Issue Tracking: Reproduce reported bugs and document them clearly for the development team in Github issues.
Documentation: Contribute to our knowledge base and open-source documentation to help the community.
What We Are Looking For
Technical Chops: Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, Firewalls, VPNs - especially WireGuard).
Linux Proficiency: Most of our deployments are on various Linux distributions, but OPNSense is also popular for our gateways.
Identity Identity Identity: Experience with IAM concepts, OAuth2/OIDC, SAML, and LDAP.
The Gift of Gab: Exceptional communication skills - you can talk to a kernel developer and a corporate procurement officer in the same hour.
Open-Source Mindset: A genuine passion for open-source software and modern cybersecurity trends.
Language: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must.
Nice to Have
Rust, HTML/CSS/JS Knowledge: Basic understanding of Rust programming language as well as HTML/JS is a massive plus (it helps in reading our logs and understanding the codebase).
Location: While we are remote-first, being based in Szczecin is a bonus for occasional team meetups.
Experience with Github, Docker & Ansible
What We Offer
Remote Work: Work from anywhere in Poland.
Open Source Impact: Work on a product that respects user privacy and security, with code available to the world.
Growth: Opportunity to deepen your knowledge in Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Rust. It’s possible with the product growth to join the development team from this position.
Contract Type: B2B
