Outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist

UASI is a mission-driven organization dedicated to enhancing the quality and accuracy of clinical documentation through expert consulting. We are currently seeking experienced Outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialists to join our team in a fully remote capacity and contribute to our commitment to documentation excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation quality, risk adjustment, and HCC coding integrity within outpatient settings.
• Perform prospective medical record reviews to validate chronic conditions, ensure documentation accuracy, and support appropriate HCC capture.
• Utilize Epic and OurPractice Advisories to identify documentation opportunities and manage clinical integrity initiatives.
• Track and manage work queues and review inventories to meet productivity targets and ensure timely follow-up on CDI interventions.
• Monitor and report on CDI outcomes, documentation trends, and HCC recapture performance to support organizational goals.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in ambulatory Clinical Documentation Integrity, Risk Adjustment, or related healthcare documentation.
• Active LPN or RN license is required for this position.
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and clinical criteria for HCC diagnoses.
• Proficiency in Epic workflows and comfort with virtual collaboration tools and secure remote access technologies.
• Professional certifications such as CCDS, CCDS-O, CDIP, CDEO, or CRC are strongly preferred.
