Music & Sound Annotation Expert

micro1 is seeking a Music & Sound Annotation Expert to join a cutting-edge project focused on the future of music and audio technology. You will play a critical role in establishing the ground truth for AI models by meticulously analyzing and documenting various audio recordings.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to 30–90 second field recordings and complete structured annotations, including identifying instruments, tempo, key, and background events.
• Compare paired recordings of the same song captured in different environments to evaluate consistency and changes.
• Review AI-generated descriptions of audio clips to verify accuracy and provide brief, evidence-based feedback.
• Participate in a paid onboarding session and attend short weekly synchronization meetings to ensure project alignment.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in music production, sound engineering, or music education.
• Exceptional analytical listening skills with the ability to isolate individual instruments in complex, noisy real-world audio.
• Proficiency in identifying musical tempo and key accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort with repetitive, structured annotation tasks within a web-based platform.
• Excellent written English skills for documenting observations clearly and concisely.
