Mid Back-end Engineer (Node.js)

SwingDev, a hippo company, is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company, Hippo Insurance. We are dedicated to making home insurance smarter and more proactive through innovative technology, and we are currently looking for a Mid Back-end Engineer to join our growing team.

Key responsibilities

• Implement backends and manage interactions with various data stores and third-party APIs.
• Work in an agile environment on impactful business projects.
• Deploy software using industry-standard tooling like Kubernetes and Lambda functions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues to minimize user impact.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Senior Engineers to turn requirements into high-quality, tested code.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Practical knowledge of at least one relational database system such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience implementing the test pyramid including module, integration, and system tests.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Readiness for occasional evening meetings to align with US time zones.
