Clera is an early-stage AI infrastructure startup focused on building the essential backbone for AI-native service businesses. As a founding engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining the technical foundation of a platform where AI agents execute complex tasks and human operators manage workflows at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build core infrastructure that enables AI agents to reliably execute complex, real-world service workflows.
- Make foundational architectural decisions that will influence the system for years to come.
- Collaborate closely with the founder to translate product vision into robust, scalable engineering.
- Establish engineering practices, tooling, and standards as one of the earliest technical hires.
- Iterate rapidly on systems that sit at the intersection of AI orchestration and operational reliability.
Requirements
- 8 to 10 or more years of software engineering experience, with a track record of building and shipping production systems.
- Strong CS fundamentals and experience designing distributed or infrastructure-level systems.
- Hands-on experience in AI/ML systems, agent frameworks, or AI-adjacent infrastructure.
- Comfort operating with high ambiguity and taking ownership in a zero-to-one environment.
- Prior experience at an early-stage startup or in a founding engineer role is a strong plus.
