Micro1 is seeking a highly skilled Materials Science Expert to join an innovative AI training project focused on computational materials science, modeling, and scientific simulation. This role involves creating, solving, and validating complex engineering tasks to ensure they are both computationally accurate and physically meaningful.
Key responsibilities
- Solve and validate computational materials-science and engineering problems using programmatic approaches.
- Construct material structures, atomic configurations, and solver-ready inputs for simulations.
- Run and analyze atomistic, molecular-dynamics, or continuum simulations to model material properties.
- Use Python to automate calculations, conduct parameter sweeps, and process simulation results.
- Review AI-generated solutions for scientific correctness and identify potential technical limitations.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of materials behavior and structure-property relationships.
- Practical proficiency in Python for scientific computing and data analysis.
- Experience with CLI-accessible engineering or simulation tools such as LAMMPS, ASE, or Quantum ESPRESSO.
- Ability to diagnose numerical instabilities, convergence issues, and invalid physical assumptions.
