micro1 is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer to contribute to a specialized project focused on advanced mechanical design. In this role, you will utilize your technical expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by providing high-quality, real-world engineering input, shaping how models learn and perform in the field of intelligent design.
Key responsibilities
- Create and modify detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable software.
- Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, suitable for manufacturing handoff.
- Design for a variety of manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
- Perform CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and readiness for production use.
- Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and assembly instructions as reference materials for AI model training.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
- Expertise in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software for advanced modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
- Hands-on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
- Proven ability to produce production-grade CAD models and validate them against real-world manufacturability criteria.
