Managing Director, Programs

Health Systems Insight is seeking a Managing Director, Programs, to serve as a senior executive reporting to the CEO. This role leads the global program design and implementation function, playing a central role in shaping strategy, ensuring program quality, and advancing the organization's mission.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and a peer to the COO, contributing to organizational strategy and high-quality program execution.
• Lead the Program division by developing innovative, financially sound initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
• Oversee Program Directors and staff to ensure technical excellence, financial stewardship, and donor responsiveness across all projects.
• Actively contribute to business development by identifying growth areas, securing funding, and managing key partner relationships.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering an inclusive and accountable culture.

Requirements

• Relevant master’s degree with 15+ years of experience or a doctoral degree with 10+ years of experience.
• Substantive senior-level experience in designing and managing international projects, preferably within the health sector.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management, including navigating complex operating environments.
• Strong technical background in areas such as health policy, health systems strengthening, or health financing.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams, mentor staff, and build collaborative relationships across cultures.
