Manager, Software Engineering, Fullstack, (Repayment UX Engineering)

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later. We are looking for an empowering Engineering Manager to lead our Repayment UX team, which owns the critical customer-facing surfaces where millions of users manage their payment plans.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a balanced team of engineers by setting clear expectations, providing direct feedback, and supporting professional development.
• Own the team’s technical strategy and multi-quarter roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer trust.
• Empower your tech lead and engineers to maintain high standards for design, quality, and system reliability.
• Manage the availability and performance of consumer-critical systems, including incident response and operational improvements.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics teams to drive cross-functional initiatives and deliver high-impact features.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven track record of delivering consumer-facing software and navigating complex, ambiguous environments.
• Strong technical judgment with experience guiding architecture and reliability decisions.
• Familiarity with modern full-stack development, including React or React Native and backend-for-frontend architectures.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-first mindset focused on building a psychologically safe and high-performing culture.
