Linux Engineering Manager - Optimisation for Latest Hardware

Canonical is seeking a Linux Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team focused on optimizing Ubuntu for the latest silicon and hardware platforms. This role involves partnering with major silicon companies to integrate next-generation features across the full Linux stack, from the kernel to the GUI, ensuring a high-performance experience for server and IoT environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for cutting-edge IoT and server-class hardware.
• Manage commercial relationships with technology partners to ensure the timely delivery of project milestones.
• Develop team members through active coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.
• Oversee technical delivery and ensure alignment with product architecture and roadmaps across the organization.
• Maintain strict quality and reliability standards for all software releases.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing or leading a team of software engineers.
• Strong background working with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
• Experience working directly with customers to resolve technical issues and translate business challenges into effective solutions.
• Solid understanding of agile software development methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple internal teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technology-related field.
