Lead Application Engineer (Java)

Egen is a fast-growing, data-first company dedicated to solving complex engineering challenges through advanced technology platforms. We are looking for a Lead Application Engineer to join our team and help drive innovation in cloud-native application development and modernization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of application engineers, providing technical guidance, architectural direction, and code reviews.
• Design, develop, and maintain production-ready microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Lead application assessment, containerization, and migration from VM-based environments to Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine.
• Implement application observability practices, including centralized logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Collaborate with platform engineering, DevOps, and security teams to establish engineering standards and deployment best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong experience in application engineering with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and production troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, application testing strategies, and distributed systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.
