Junior Backend Engineer (Europe)

Kalepa is building the AI operating system for the insurance industry, creating professional-grade systems that read, reason, and act within complex workflows. We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of impactful software at the intersection of engineering and applied AI.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of backend services, data, and machine learning pipelines.
• Build and improve systems that process large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with experienced full-stack, backend, and ML engineers on production systems.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features and contribute to system design, testing, and operations.
• Solve non-trivial technical problems that directly impact our insurance product.

Requirements

• Approximately 1 year of professional software engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency in Python.
• A degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• A curious mindset regarding AI, data, and real-world machine learning applications.
• Ability to work with ambiguity, take ownership, and maintain high technical standards.
