Java Tech Lead

Harvey Nash Technology is seeking an experienced Java Tech Lead to join their team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will lead a sub-team of senior engineers while remaining hands-on with production code, focusing on building innovative AI-first backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a sub-team of senior engineers while writing production code daily.
• Design and ship greenfield AI-first backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Conduct 1:1 meetings, provide direct feedback, and actively support the professional growth of your team members.
• Develop AI tooling across the entire delivery cycle, including code review, testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
• Integrate with legacy systems effectively while maintaining high standards of code quality and delivery speed.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience in Java backend development, with deep expertise in Spring Boot and microservices.
• Proven experience in hands-on people management, including conducting 1:1s and facilitating career development.
• Practical experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or equivalent technologies.
• Professional background in fintech, banking, or trading sectors.
• Strong commitment to regular coding and technical contribution.
• Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.
