As an Intermediate Backend Engineer, you will take features from problem clarification through to production, working within a product area to deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable code.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and ship backend features using Ruby/Rails, Go, or other modern languages.
- Build maintainable, observable, and performant code, including APIs, background jobs, and data models.
- Add and improve automated test coverage and conduct thorough code reviews for correctness and security.
- Operate what you build by investigating failures, identifying technical debt, and participating in operational support.
- Leverage AI tools in daily workflows while maintaining critical judgment over generated outputs.
Requirements
- Professional experience building and shipping production backend applications.
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, testing, debugging, and performance.
- Experience with Ruby/Rails, Go, or similar modern backend languages.
- Ability to own features from requirements through delivery with minimal guidance.
- Strong written communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote, asynchronous environment.
