Head of Software Engineering

SQUAD is seeking a strategic and technically grounded Head of Software Engineering to lead and scale our embedded software organization. You will unify our distributed engineering teams, standardize development practices, and drive cross-functional project delivery for smart IoT devices and connected hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Take full accountability for domain-wide software delivery, ensuring high-quality architectural choices and secure software lifecycles.
• Participate in pre-sales calls and technical discovery sessions to design high-level architectures and estimate engineering efforts.
• Establish domain-wide coding guidelines, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD practices for embedded Linux and RTOS environments.
• Empower Software Development Managers and Tech Leads to maintain a unified technical direction and resolve operational silos.
• Oversee resource allocation and partner with recruitment to drive strategic headcount growth.

Requirements

• Proven track record as a Head of Engineering or Director managing embedded software organizations.
• Deep architectural background in embedded systems, including OS drivers, middleware, and connectivity.
• Hands-on experience in pre-sales enablement, technical proposal writing, and client-facing project estimation.
• Strong understanding of Agile frameworks and modern delivery practices for embedded systems.
• Advanced English proficiency with the ability to articulate complex architectures to non-technical stakeholders.
