Head of People

VRChat is a pioneering platform for social VR experiences, empowering a global community to create and connect within an ever-expanding metaverse. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of People to lead our talent function, foster our unique culture, and support our mission-driven team as we continue to scale.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leadership to drive organizational alignment, decision-making, and accountability.
• Lead and develop the People team, ensuring reliable core operations, onboarding, and employee support.
• Design and implement practical performance-calibration processes that empower managers to recognize excellence and address gaps.
• Coach managers through complex employee relations, organizational changes, and feedback cycles.
• Develop and manage compensation, leveling, and equity practices in collaboration with executive leadership.
• Utilize data and automation to optimize People operations and proactively identify organizational risks.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading a lean People function at a growing technology company.
• Strong track record of building impactful people programs and navigating organizational inflection points.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity, making pragmatic decisions while maintaining empathy and discretion.
• Experience managing globally distributed, fully remote teams across diverse employment models.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex insights into actionable strategies for leadership.
• A builder mindset, focused on iterative delivery and creating only the processes the business truly needs.
