Freelance Senior FX Artist

Rodeo FX is seeking a highly skilled Senior FX Artist to join our team for a long-term project running through March 2027. You will be responsible for creating complex, photorealistic visual simulations while maintaining the high artistic and technical standards that define our award-winning studio.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high-end simulations including smoke, fire, explosions, liquids, and destruction.
• Utilize Houdini effectively to generate optimized and adaptable effects.
• Maintain autonomy in managing FX tasks from initial setup to final rendering.
• Ensure rigorous quality control of files and caches before submission.
• Collaborate with FX and CG supervision teams to deliver dynamic, technically solid shots.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a VFX studio environment.
• Excellent command of Houdini, including Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, and SOPs.
• Working knowledge of compositing in Nuke and rendering with Arnold or Karma.
• Proficiency in USD and Solaris workflows.
• Strong understanding of physics, movement, and visual rhythm.
