Freelance FX Artist

Rodeo FX is a world-renowned, Oscar-winning creative studio specializing in high-end visual effects, animation, and advertising. We are currently seeking a talented Freelance FX Artist to join our team and contribute to complex, photorealistic visual simulations for major global projects.

Key responsibilities

• Produce complex simulations including smoke, fire, explosions, liquids, and destruction while adhering to high artistic and technical standards.
• Utilize Houdini effectively to generate optimized, adaptable effects and maintain autonomy throughout the production process.
• Ensure rigorous quality control of files and caches while actively participating in dailies and integrating feedback.
• Collaborate with pipeline, lighting, and compositing departments to ensure technical compatibility and seamless integration of effects.
• Provide realistic project estimates and maintain clear, professional communication with production teams and leads.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in FX within a VFX studio environment.
• Expert-level command of Houdini, including Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, and SOPs.
• Solid understanding of compositing in Nuke and rendering with Arnold or Karma.
• Proficiency in USD and Solaris workflows.
• Strong sense of physical movement, visual rhythm, and attention to detail.
