As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for our Scheduling product, a critical component used by over 1.5 million workers globally. You will guide a talented team in modernizing workflows, improving system performance, and integrating AI-native solutions to help businesses thrive.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and clear communication.
- Shape the technical direction of the Scheduling product by engaging in architecture discussions, design reviews, and strategic trade-offs.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Data teams to translate business strategy into a focused, measurable roadmap.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools, ensuring high standards for code quality, security, and maintainability.
- Manage delivery cadences, identify risks early, and ensure the team remains aligned with Deputy's broader organizational goals.
Requirements
- Proven experience in engineering leadership, either as a formal manager or a lead engineer responsible for technical direction and team growth.
- Strong technical judgment with the ability to engage in deep design discussions and explain complex decisions to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience operating customer-facing software at scale, balancing delivery speed with long-term system reliability.
- First-hand experience using AI development tools with a critical, informed perspective on their application.
- Ability to create momentum in ambiguous environments by identifying constraints and making practical, data-informed decisions.
