Engineering Manager, Frontend (maternity cover)

Cleeng is the Subscriber Retention Management company, providing a unified platform for D2C businesses to manage subscriptions and maximize customer lifetime value. We are seeking an Engineering Manager for our Frontend team to provide maternity cover, focusing on maintaining high-velocity delivery while advancing our AI-first engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Ship production code using React and TypeScript while actively utilizing and refining agentic coding tools.
• Manage and optimize our frontend agent harness, including configuration of Claude Code, OpenCode, and MCP servers.
• Mentor the team to increase their agentic capabilities, improving documentation, testing, and tooling.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, security, and design, acting as the final reviewer for agent-generated output.
• Lead the frontend scope within cross-functional squads, managing sprint commitments and operational health.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with agentic development workflows, including multi-step tasks and harness configuration.
• 6+ years of experience building production-grade frontend applications with deep expertise in React and TypeScript.
• Strong background in Node.js, BFF patterns, REST API design, and automated testing frameworks like Playwright and Jest.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive decision-making processes.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment.
