Engineering Manager - Solutions Engineering

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, including the widely used Ubuntu platform. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a regional software engineering team focused on next-generation infrastructure-as-code and DevOps workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a remote team of Python engineers through coaching and career development.
• Demonstrate technical leadership by contributing code and advocating for modern, agile software development practices.
• Plan and manage project progress while setting clear expectations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
• Coordinate with operations teams to improve infrastructure-as-code products based on real-world experience.

Requirements

• Proven track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
• Strong background in Python software development and agile methodologies.
• Solid knowledge of cloud computing concepts, Linux server administration, and software automation.
• Excellent organizational skills with a focus on delivering high-quality software.
