Engineering Lead (Healthcare)

Intellias is seeking an Engineering Lead to join a large-scale Digital Health initiative focused on building a FHIR-based healthcare platform. This hands-on leadership role involves driving architecture decisions and mentoring engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and HIPAA-compliant healthcare solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts across healthcare interoperability and data platform initiatives.
• Define technical direction and make critical architecture decisions for high-availability systems.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical coaching.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to drive engineering excellence, reliability, and security.
• Promote responsible use of AI-assisted development in regulated healthcare environments.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of FHIR R4, HL7, US Core, and USCDI standards.
• Hands-on experience with HIPAA, PHI-safe engineering, and distributed systems.
• Expertise in Python or Node.js/TypeScript and event-driven architectures like Kafka.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools and strong communication skills in English.
