Distinguished Engineer, Agentic SDLC & Non‑Linear Productivity

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, enabling organizations to accelerate digital transformation and improve developer productivity. We are seeking a Distinguished Engineer to pioneer and scale autonomous, agentic SDLC capabilities, acting as a senior technical leader who bridges architecture, product, and machine learning teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define a company-wide technical vision for autonomous, agentic SDLC that aligns with product strategy.
• Identify and prioritize non-linear productivity opportunities across the entire software development lifecycle.
• Lead hands-on experiments and prototypes to validate agentic workflows for tasks like MR authoring and incident response.
• Design reference architectures including orchestration patterns, safety guardrails, and observability.
• Mentor senior engineers and drive cross-functional alignment on complex, ambiguous technical challenges.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in a senior technical leadership role.
• Deep expertise in AI and ML systems, including large language models and agentic frameworks.
• Proven track record of leading technical experimentation and translating findings into scalable architecture.
• Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems and operational resilience.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed organization.
