DevOps Architect (Azure & IaC)

Emergent Software is seeking a DevOps Architect to lead the technical direction of our cloud infrastructure practice. This fully remote role is designed for an expert who enjoys building playbooks, mentoring engineers, and driving architecture discussions with clients.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical direction of our DevOps practice, including IaC standards, pipeline patterns, and reference architectures.
• Author and maintain internal documentation, templates, and modules to support team efficiency.
• Mentor engineers from diverse backgrounds, conduct code reviews, and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Lead complex client engagements from discovery through delivery, ensuring high-quality technical outcomes.
• Represent the DevOps practice in pre-sales activities, including scoping work and building client confidence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong networking expertise in Azure, including designing topologies and managing connectivity.
• Advanced experience authoring production Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.
• Proven track record of operating CI/CD pipelines at scale using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Experience designing disaster recovery, high availability, and cost-efficiency strategies.
• Strong communication skills with experience in consulting or professional services.
