Database Migrations Engineer - EMEA

Laravel is the world's most popular PHP framework, evolving into a complete platform that includes Laravel Cloud. We are looking for a Database Migrations Engineer to join our team and lead the technical execution of database migrations for our enterprise and Private Cloud customers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute database migrations for enterprise customers, primarily focusing on MySQL and Postgres.
• Assume ownership of the PlanetScale relationship and manage ongoing migration workflows autonomously.
• Productise repeatable migration patterns by creating documentation and decision logic to improve efficiency.
• Automate recurring migration requests to eliminate manual effort and streamline processes.
• Distribute knowledge across the company by building runbooks and reference materials for Sales, CS, and engineering teams.
• Monitor the competitive landscape to ensure our database offerings remain industry-leading.

Requirements

• Genuine strength in both MySQL and Postgres, with a balanced capability across both.
• Direct experience managing database migrations in a customer-facing capacity.
• A strong productisation instinct with the ability to package bespoke work into repeatable patterns.
• Excellent written and async communication skills suitable for a fully remote environment.
• Comfort operating in a role where you define the scope and shape the function as it evolves.
