Data Scientist

Paystone is a company dedicated to helping small businesses grow through enhanced customer experiences, leveraging data and AI to drive smarter decision-making. We are seeking a remote Data Scientist to join our team and build machine learning models that directly power real-world product features.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Product and BI teams to translate business goals into well-scoped machine learning problems with clear success criteria.
• Build and productionize models focused on customer segmentation, churn prediction, lifetime value, and personalized recommendations.
• Design robust evaluation frameworks, including offline benchmarks and online feedback loops, to ensure model performance.
• Collaborate with Engineering to address production considerations such as latency, system architecture, and failure modes.
• Monitor model performance, detect data drift, and manage retraining cycles to ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, Applied Scientist, or Machine Learning Engineer.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python with proven experience in deploying production-grade machine learning models.
• Deep understanding of churn, segmentation, LTV, or recommender systems.
• Comfortable working with production systems, APIs, and modern AI-assisted development workflows.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
