Counter-Threat Intelligence Engineer

Cambium Learning Group is seeking a Counter-Threat Intelligence Engineer to enhance the organization’s ability to identify, understand, and counter cyber threats that could impact our learners, educators, and business operations. This role combines threat intelligence, ethical hacking, exposure validation, and security engineering to turn emerging threat information into actionable defenses.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and operationalize strategic and tactical threat intelligence from internal and external sources.
• Perform adversary-focused research and ethical hacking to validate exposures and recommend defensive improvements across cloud, identity, and application platforms.
• Partner with Security Operations to create, tune, and validate detections, playbooks, and threat hunting hypotheses.
• Support Continuous Threat Exposure Management by scoping assets, discovering exposures, and coordinating remediation activities.
• Produce actionable threat intelligence reports and technical recommendations for diverse audiences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, with at least 2 years in threat intelligence, ethical hacking, or detection engineering.
• Proven knowledge of the cyber kill chain, MITRE ATT&CK, and common attack techniques.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, XDR/EDR, vulnerability scanners, and cloud security tools.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation and executive briefings for cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical judgment and a commitment to protecting sensitive student and business data.
