CiviCRM / PHP Engineer (Mid-level to Senior)

Compuco is a data-driven creative technology agency dedicated to empowering socially responsible organizations. We are seeking an experienced PHP Engineer to join our fully remote, distributed team to build and maintain CiviCRM extensions and Drupal modules that help non-profits, charities, and cultural organizations maximize their impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and test CiviCRM extensions and Drupal modules, ensuring unit tests are included for every change.
• Collaborate on technical specifications and lead them at a senior level.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive technical feedback to team members.
• Utilize AI coding tools within our established playbooks while maintaining high standards of quality control.
• Investigate production issues to identify root causes and document findings effectively.
• Participate in planning, estimation, and retrospectives to ensure project success.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in web application development with PHP (5+ years for senior roles).
• Proven experience extending large PHP platforms through hooks, APIs, and plugins.
• Daily proficiency with AI coding tools and the ability to critically evaluate their output.
• Strong database and SQL skills, including performance optimization.
• Expertise with Git, Docker-based development environments, and Linux command line.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
