Backend Staff Engineer

Koinly is a successful product used by crypto investors globally, helping them navigate complex portfolios and tax obligations across various chains, wallets, and exchanges. We are looking for a Backend Staff Engineer to take deep ownership of our high-performance, distributed data-processing platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of a distributed data-processing backend that ingests, normalizes, and reconciles on-chain and exchange data at scale.
• Make sound architectural decisions to ensure financial-grade correctness, high availability, and deterministic execution.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to evaluate ideas and propose robust technical solutions.
• Raise the bar for the entire backend team by writing high-quality code and leading by example.
• Optimize and refactor existing systems to handle increasing throughput and data complexity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in engineering, with a strong focus on complex, data-heavy distributed systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and deep understanding of distributed system architecture, including queues, idempotency, and rate-limiting.
• Proven production-level experience with DeFi protocols, including AMMs, staking, and on-chain transaction semantics.
• Advanced data modeling and SQL skills, with a track record of tuning performance on massive PostgreSQL datasets.
• Professional experience with Rust and a willingness to utilize it for performance-critical components.
