Backend Engineer - Java/Scala/Golang

emagine Polska is looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join the Content Catalog domain. In this role, you will contribute to building and operating systems that manage content, focusing on simplifying architecture and enhancing system reliability and maintainability. You will collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring that our systems remain robust and scalable.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers to define requirements, scope, and delivery plans for backend projects.
• Design, implement, and test improvements for backend services, APIs, and data flows to ensure system reliability.
• Coordinate complex migrations and service integrations across multiple teams while managing dependencies.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs, progress, and risks effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Evaluate system performance through testing and monitoring to support ongoing ownership and documentation.

Requirements

• Solid experience in building and operating production-grade backend services at scale.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Scala, or Go.
• Strong understanding of API design, schema evolution, and data modeling for auditability and versioning.
• Experience with data pipelines and knowledge of tradeoffs between real-time and batch processing.
• Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and contribute effectively in ambiguous environments.
