Backend Developer (Scala/ZIO)

Scalac is looking for a Senior Scala Developer to join a globally recognized fintech project focused on post-trade automation and large-scale financial systems. You will have the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems used by major financial institutions worldwide while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Designing and implementing real-time financial data streaming components.
• Building and maintaining services based on Akka Actors, Streams, and HTTP.
• Developing Kafka consumers with proper offset handling and advanced error management.
• Working with Slick and PostgreSQL for schema modeling, queries, and migrations.
• Writing unit and integration tests, specifically focusing on asynchronous code.

Requirements

• 4–5+ years of commercial experience working with Scala.
• Strong knowledge of Akka Actors and Akka Streams.
• Hands-on experience with ZIO in production environments.
• Practical experience with Apache Kafka and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in AWS cloud environments and fluent English communication skills.
