Backend Developer

AgileEngine is an Inc. 5000 company that creates award-winning software for Fortune 500 brands and trailblazing startups across 17+ industries. We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to build and maintain the PHP-based systems powering our distributed services in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations supporting company products and distributed services.
• Write clean, modular, and testable code in PHP and complementary technologies.
• Apply OOP principles and solid architectural patterns to ensure extensibility and maintainability.
• Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT, and RBAC.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and QA teams to define scope and ensure successful delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 2 years of backend software engineering experience, primarily in PHP production environments.
• Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL and backend architecture fundamentals.
• Upper-intermediate English level and strong communication skills.
