Azure Data Engineering Tech Lead

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Engineering Tech Lead to guide a team of data engineers, shape technical direction, and deliver scalable cloud data solutions. This role combines leadership, architecture, and hands-on technical expertise in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach the data engineering team; set goals, assign tasks, and foster collaboration.
• Support engineers in troubleshooting complex technical challenges.
• Provide expert guidance on tools, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.
• Stay current with industry trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Work with stakeholders to define requirements, scope, and project plans.
• Partner with project managers to ensure timely, high-quality delivery; identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for customers.
• Oversee and review data architecture and solution design to ensure scalability and efficiency.
• Establish coding standards and conduct code reviews to maintain code quality.
• Introduce and supervise QA processes for pipelines and workflows.
• Optimize data processing, storage performance, and cloud cost efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies (CI/CD, QA, coding standards).
• Act as the main point of contact for cross-team collaboration.
• Maintain and periodically review technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (certifications welcome).
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, R, or Scala.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud-based data solution delivery.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools, data pipelines, and data warehousing.
• Proven leadership experience—mentorship, technical support, and team management.
• Deep understanding of data management, data quality, governance, and integration.
• Strong project management and prioritization skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills for complex data engineering issues.
• Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
