Azure Data Architect

eConsulting is seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to take ownership of an existing data platform, bring structure to its design, and lead the implementation of target architectures, including support for GenAI-based solutions. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in dynamic environments and can provide clear, long-term technical guidance to engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the current Azure data platform and develop a comprehensive roadmap that balances quick wins with long-term architectural goals.
• Create detailed architecture documentation and diagrams to guide engineering teams in project implementation.
• Design the data layer for GenAI applications, including RAG and agentic solutions, focusing on ingestion, storage, and retrieval using Cosmos DB.
• Develop flexible, metadata-driven ingestion processes capable of handling diverse data sources, including unstructured documents.
• Recommend optimal tooling, such as Databricks, Synapse, and Azure Data Factory, based on specific project requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar data architecture role.
• Proven hands-on expertise in Azure data architecture, including Cosmos DB, Synapse, and production-grade RAG or agentic solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of Cosmos DB, specifically regarding data modeling, partition key design, cost optimization, and scaling.
• Practical experience with Synapse, including pipelines, Spark, and SQL pools, with a history of making independent architectural decisions.
• Proficiency in Databricks, T-SQL, Lakehouse architecture, and Azure Functions.
