Azure Data Architect (GenAI/RAG/Agentic focus)

Svitla Systems is seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to join our team for a fully remote role. You will be responsible for designing and evolving a scalable, governed data platform, with a specific focus on supporting GenAI, RAG, and Agentic AI applications within an enterprise Azure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise Azure data architecture, assessing existing platforms and defining long-term target architectures.
• Design the data layer for GenAI and RAG applications, focusing on ingestion, preparation, storage, and retrieval-readiness of enterprise data.
• Make technology-neutral architectural decisions across Azure Synapse, Databricks, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL.
• Design metadata-driven, reusable ingestion frameworks for both structured and unstructured data sources.
• Deliver actionable architecture plans and documentation to guide engineering teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering with a strong background in enterprise data architecture.
• Proven production experience designing data architecture specifically for RAG, GenAI, or Agentic AI applications.
• Deep expertise in Azure Cosmos DB, including data modeling, partitioning, and cost optimization.
• Strong proficiency with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure SQL/T-SQL.
• Ability to quickly assess undocumented legacy platforms and produce concrete architectural recommendations.
